  • Overview

    Perform Machinist activties within the Maintenance Department.

    Responsibilities

    Primary Functions of Position:

     

    1. Performs and documents workplace and mobile equipment inspections
    2. Ability to safely and efficiently operate and maintain mills, lathes, drill presses.
    3. Ability to perform precise measurement and align equipment.
    4. Ability to safely and efficiently perform preventative maintenance and equipment repairs, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and other equipment.
    5. Ability to identify equipment operational problems and causes of breakdowns, and make repairs to same.
    6. Ability to effectively communicate to identify operational and equipment inefficiencies, lubrication problems, etc.
    7. Ability to safely and efficiently operate stationary and mobile equipment, hand and power tools, and other equipment necessary to perform all job functions.
    8. Ability to train on and utilize a computer and related software for creating work requests, entering time to work orders, looking up spare parts and inventory and other uses as they evolve. Successful training and use will be required on the following (non-inclusive); CMMS, CAD, Excel, Outlook, Adage and Tru-track.
    9. Work and coordinate with supervisors and other employees to strive for continuous improvement, safety and operational efficiency.

    Qualifications

    Person must have general knowledge and application of plant safety rules with an emphasis on lockout procedures, risk awareness, moving conveyors, confined space procedures, and use of PPE.  Must have the ability to independently solve problems, prioritize work and work with minimum supervision.  Must have the ability to train on and utilize a personal computer for recording operating and environmental data, writing work orders, and other tasks as necessary.  Person must have the ability to climb steps and ladders, work in elevated areas, work in all weather conditions, and other conditions as necessary.

     

    Employees are responsible for the entire function of their work assignment. The responsibility includes but is not limited to the operation/performance of equipment, environmental guidelines, and the safety and health of employees in their immediate area.

     

    Performance measures include but are not limited to monitoring the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with the position, performing equipment repair and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
