Overview

Under the direction of the Maintenance Team Lead  and often working independently, provide mechanical maintenance services to the operation through troubleshooting, welding, rigging, millwrighting, etc.  The position will coordinate repairs, determine supplies and spare parts needed; contact and oversee contractor maintenance personnel; administering routine service contracts; and secure materials deliveries. Perform electrical maintenance as needed to ensure continual operations,.  Be on call, 24/7, for any plant maintenance needs.  Fill in for Process Technicians and perform all plant operations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures. Attend safety training meetings as scheduled.
  • Assure proper availability of repair parts and supplies. Initiate Purchase Requisitions as necessary.
  • Maintain supply of expendable operating supplies.
  • Function as mechanical maintenance troubleshooter.
  • Contact and arrange for contract maintenance or repair service if needed. Supervises outside contract labor as required.
  • Be willing to attend training and or school courses at the company expense.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May occasionally be required to travel to other corporate locations for training and operational assistance.
  • Design and install mechanical systems needed to improve operations and produce products.
  • Operate mobile equipment as required. Equipment includes but is not limited to: tele-handler, crane, skid steer, track hoe, front end loader, and manlift.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with off-site company personnel for support resources.
  • Adheres to all company and corporate policies.
  • Operate plant as needed.
  • Be able to climb ladders & stairs and not have a fear of heights.
  • Be able to work around water and not have a fear of water.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Technical Associate Degree in Industrial maintenance or a High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of five years in an industrial mechanical maintenance environment.
  • Basic mechanic experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge of keyboarding, Windows XP, Excel spreadsheet, and Word processing a plus. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook a plus. Candidate must be comfortable interacting with vendors and contractors. 
  • Candidate must have good writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of bulk material handling systems equipment mandatory. Ability to design and install mechanical processes is highly desirable.  Basic knowledge of PLC, VFD, electrical systems and general process instrument knowledge and experience is highly desirable.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and have initiative to work as an empowered team with all the employees at Vicksburg.  Candidate will be expected to operate a safe and efficient plant, maximize production and reduce costs.
