Overview

The purpose of this position is to assist the Maintenance Superintendent in maintaining all plant and mobile equipment.  The individual will carry out assigned work orders for all preventative and corrective maintenance while following all applicable safety standards and best practices.  He or she will work alongside the production department to perform housekeeping needs and other production duties to facilitate the operational needs of the site.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure maintenance jobs are performed correctly per Work Instruction’s, Best Practices and company policies
  • Monitor parts and materials required to perform maintenance work orders
  • Perform routine plant and mobile equipment inspections
  • Assist other maintenance employees as needed
  • Repair plant equipment
  • Perform skilled hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical repair

Qualifications

  • High School education, a 2 year degree in Industrial Maintenance is preferred but not required
  • 1 to 3 years of actual maintenance experience
  • Safely perform maintenance work determined to be Millwright A or Mechanic A quality; this includes work efficiency
  • Be able to assess equipment failure and lead a troubleshooting discussion
  • Be able to complete the necessary repairs alone / as part of a team, (determined by Management)
  • Be able to train others
  • Work with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and other MLC software
  • Basic welding skills – advanced welding skills are preferred but not required
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair - advanced electrical skills are preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of both hydraulic and pneumatic systems with regards to repair & function
  • Knowledge of various rotating mechanical equipment including belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, vibrating screens and vibrating feeders
  • Knowledge of power transmission devices including gear drives, and belt drives
  • Knowledge of MSHA & MLC requirements regarding guarding & compliance.
  • Operate a variety of mobile equipment including Bobcat, forklifts, man lifts, haul trucks and front end loaders
  • Required to work overtime
  • Required to make callouts
  • Required to work on weekends
  • Required to work hours other than daylight
  • May be required to work on holidays
  • Required to work in all weather conditions including but not limited to: heat, humidity, rain, cold, snow, wind and ice.
  • Required to work in nosy environment
  • Required to wear safety equipment including but not limited to: earplugs, hardhats, goggles, protective clothing, steel-toed shoes and on occasion particulate masks or breathing apparatus
  • Ability to perform work at heights requiring safety tie-off
  • Ability to read and understand manuals and drawings
  • Other items as required by the position Physical Demands Analysis
  • Other items as determined by Management
